Abyssine Cream : a Review

Abyssine Cream is an anti-aging product of Kiehl's, the maker of other well known brands for 150 years. The Abyssine line includes an eye cream, lotion, and a cream with sun block for day time use.

Abyssine Cream has no dedicated website; it is just featured on the Kiehl’s website, which, fortunately, provides a complete ingredient list and a detailed product description. However, there is no information on the researches conducted or users’ testimonials to show that the product is both effective and safe. A 1.7oz jar currently sells for more or less £25 - £40.

The following are the three key ingredients in Abyssine Cream and their claimed effects or results: abyssine 657, said to be “survival molecules” from hypothermal vents in the ocean ( to protect and soothe the skin), apricot kernel oil ( for soft, clear skin), antioxidants( free radical damage protection). Abyssine is also supposed to work with Corallin extract to keep the skin stay hydrated, making it appear glowing and smooth.

A long list of Abyssine Cream ingredients is shown in the website but does not include any collagen source, which is supposed to plump the skin and lessen fine lines firmer skin.

Kiel's is a well known manufacturer, and the Abyssine products are moderately priced. We think it is an advantage that the complete list of ingredients for the Abyssine creams is posted online, where we can see that the ingredients contain antioxidants and sun protectors to help protect the skin.

Here at AntiAgings.org.uk we think of it as a minus that the long list of ingredients does not contain collagen or a collagen production booster. There's also no testimonials posted on the company website. Little or no studies or research results are to be found to support product claims. So we recommend to use the Abyssine creams with another product for better resuls. We think the return policy is not clear enough. So you best read through it well. As a positive, we have noted that some UK stockists where you can buy the Abyssine cream, as well as the Eye Cream, also offer free trial samples from time to time (discounts were seen when buying from UK and US outlets). We see people reporting that it hydrates well, doesn't clog the pores, and not too heavy. Absorbing well and an overall good moisturizer (also in combination with the serum), if you are in the category of combination skin.

Kiehls Abyssine Cream is backed by Kiehl’s, a long time reputable manufacturer. It has the ingredients to hydrate and protect the skin from the sun. However, it does not contain the important ingredient for anti-wrinkle products – collagen or a collagen production booster. So, Abyssin Cream might be effective as a moisturizer but not as a wrinkle fighter

Abyssin alternatives are listed in the popular search results. Visit our website AntiAgings.org.uk soon again. From fall on, I am publishing new articles on recent development on anti aging research and skin care products. A new website section dedicated to reviews on "Face Care" will launch in a few weeks.
