The Aqua Glycolic products line for skin care was brought to world by Merz Pharmaceuticals, a company founded over 100 years ago in Germany. This company has patented a water soluble base that is used in a many kinds of glycolic skin care treatment. Since its inception in Germany a century ago, Merz Pharmaceuticals has become a worldwide company with a large range of skin care products. Merz’s Aqua Glycolic Products was created as an alpha hydroxy acid based skin treatment system for use on all types of skin.

When it comes to alpha hydroxy acids, they are shown to work better when liberally applied and left to do its sorcery. Aqua Glycolic face creams are designed to bring moisture back into the skin, and diminish the appearance of wrinkles. Of course the most important ingredient in Aqua Glycolic is glycolic acid. Glycolic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid found naturally in sugar cane. Glycolic acid is used for exfoliating skin (scrubbing off the top, dead layer of skin and revealing the healthier skin beneath). The professional glycolic products gaining in popularity are the glycolic gels, washes, and glycolic acid acne treatments (more on these later).

The Aqua Glycolic acid product line includes facial cleansers, face creams, shampoos, body cleansers, and hand and body lotions (see below). The Aqua Glycolic facial cleanser gets mixed testimonials, reporting breakouts even. For some users with these glycolic acid peels the exfoliation works great, for some it doesn’t. Works best on the face if you don’t use it every day, and before applying you should first take off your makeup with something else. The Aqua Glycolic Facial Cleanser seems best to be used as a mask, on wet skin, smooth glycolic acid skin peel on, then waiting a 15 minutes, rinse & wash it off. Aqua Glycolic Face Cream works well for most users : red blotches fading away with these glycolic creams or much less noticeable. Creamy but sinking into the skin. This cream is in a tub, not a pump, so less hygienic for some. You kind of feel in the morning that the glycolic acid has been doing its job. This cream is sometimes reported to sting a bit when intitially applied. Not smelling at all. Overall good customer testimonials (see below, where some online cosmetics shops offered free trials and coupons at the time of review – UK, Canada and Australia customers too).

The ingredients in Aqua Glycolic products are proven to work in skin exfoliation and moisturizing.

A few minus points though : The list of ingredients doesn’t contain a proven wrinkle reducer. The ingredient, alpha hydroxy acid, is reported to sometimes irritate the skin and increases sensitivity to UV rays. There is no money back guarantee available. Aqua Glycolic Products may work well for you if you are on the lookout for exfoliation and skin moisturizing.
